What is Real 3D?

In brief, the difference between the loosely used term 3D and actual 3D is this: All computer generated pictures of buildings, animated movies, scale models of towns and cars, etc. are generally called 3D. While this is partly correct it is actually closer to 2.5 D - where D is for the third dimension of "depth".

If you look at regular pictures or video walk - thrus of projects, you see only a simulated feeling of this third dimension. Actual 3D... or to be more exact, Stereo 3D, is the real feeling of depth as is evidenced when watching a 3D IMAX ® ™ type movie.

Real Location photographs shot in 3D can be used, and computer generated 3D models from the architectural firm that creates the CG (Computer Generated) models can be processed for REAL 3D and super imposed onto the normal printed pages of a brochure.

Lightweight, disposable paper 3D hand held viewers are included with the brochure in the same way that Cd roms or DVDs are included in a Brochure's sleeve. Hand held viewers are better than paper 3D glasses so that a client is not self conscious of wearing a pair of paper glasses.

When viewed, the CG models of the project actually stand tall, right out of the pages of the brochure, and related real photographs of the work in progress and the surrounding neighborhood give the client a sense of depth when viewing the project brochure.

The important question is, does this really make a difference when presenting a project?

Arguably, Yes.

One of the biggest plus points of Stereo 3D, is the recall value it has on a persons mind. Viewing a real 3D image, it is closest there is to actually being there.

If you have a pair of paper 3D glasses (red - cyan) you can see the difference between a flat image and the "depth" that the 3Dimensional image will show, for example the actual distances between the super tall buildings, and approximate width of the lakes and streets in a township.Error, missing fireboard config file!
